SAN FRANCISCO FASHION FILM FEST
Spring 2012
This spring, San Francisco will be hosting a Fashion Film Festival at the Roxie Theater showcasing an entire day of screenings dedicated to an array of fashionable film classics and also some more than noteworthy newer fare. The festival is also accepting independent film submissions through February 3, 2012.“With a curated selection of documentary, classic, and contemporary dramatic production films, we will present old favorites as well as unexpected titles. With dramatic films, our aspiration is to provide a broader perspective on costume, set design, storytelling, and cinematography. With documentary films, we seek to tell the stories of the designers and artists who shape the world of fashion and style. As we explore films that have inspired trend, beauty, design, and culture, we will look beyond the little black dress to the creators and influencers who have affected style through film.” Taken from Fashfilmfest.org
What are your favorite films? Did you absolutely love the soundtrack and all the cinematic imagery in Marie Antoinette? How about Anna Wintour and an inside look at the workings of Vogue in The September Issue? My personal favorites would include the previous two mentions with the addition of A Single Man (Pictured Above) which features the magnificent acting talents of Colin Firth and Julianne Moore. Not only this, but it’s written and directed by none other than the multi-talented Tom Ford. And of course, an honorable mention to Bill Cunningham New York, centered around Bill, an 80-year-old New York Times photographer who chronicles street style around the city.
